Thinking about putting pics on my blog to go along with the random ramblings. 

crash.

So… commuting by bike at 5:20am definitely has it downsides, and on friday I ran headfirst into it.  I’ve been taking the local bike trail up to the light rail to get into baltimore.. and on friday I think I was on the trail for all about 30 seconds before I ran into another bike commuter going the opposite direction.  His light was on his helmet and he was sort of turned around checking out his rear light, up until I was about 10 feet away.  By the time he turned around and I finally saw his light and he saw me there was pretty much nothing left to be done.  He was probably coasting considering he was checking on his equipment, but I was going pretty hard in an attempt to make the earliest train into town possible.  

Somehow we made it out of the crash with no broken bones even though at the time my arm, shoulder, wrist and knee were all killing me.  That and I had a cut below my eye.  

I thought I had better sense than to trust in the “safety” of the trail, but friday was a definite reminder.  Trusting that I could see someone coming with enough time to do something was an obvious mistake… before I try it again, I’ll need a better headlight and possibly stop riding on the trail all together.

I’m not getting in enough riding to improve much.. so I’m going to start commuting to work, which is about 35 miles each way.  This is going to be interesting.

hey, look at that, I found time to post my pft score for today!! yay!

I definitely have improved over the last time I did it, but I still have a ways to go..

42 sit ups in a min (2pts)

43.2 300m sprint (7pts)

40 continuous push ups (3pts)

11:29 1.5 mile run (3pts)

total - 15pts

Overall I’m pretty happy with my improvement, but I still have a ways to go.

busy..

things have been crazy busy.. but I’ve been on top of working out (i promise).  I just have all but forgotten about my blog.

did a total of 80 push ups and 20 min on the rollers..

25 push ups/10 min /25 push ups/10 min/30 push ups

now I’m going to do some stretching/yoga and watch the army/navy game

I think I need to be more flexible, or at the very least not so stiff.. so I’m going to stop working out until I start doing some yoga… so.. hopefully I’ll be starting sometime today

California is a great place

just got back from visiting family in Ca.. its the first time that I’ve spent any time there outside of a layover I had in lax once.  In short, had a blast but the trip was far too short

I’ve been going to the gym pretty regularly the last week as well as riding the rollers.. just havent put in the time to update the blog.. oh well

I’ve been pretty behind on posting.. but I haven’t been slacking off with my workouts.  In the future, if I forget to post a workout or workouts I’ll just put them all in one post when I get around to it.. so it will look something like this..

thursday - squats & deadlift (free comp day at the gym I’m about to join)

friday - off

saturday - run

anyways.. joining a gym near work on monday, I’m going to start going during my lunch break.. going to start doing squats and deadlift on a regular basis and eventually throw in cleans and power cleans.. all exciting stuff

I’m expecting it to make a significant difference on the bike, and I’ll be posting about that as things progress in the gym
